Message From the Director

Message from the Director;
0342(1) - Copy As the new Executive Director, I first want to thank the people of Turner in welcoming myself and my family to this great community. The community feel, the pride and the strive towards excellence, are what drew me to Kansas City. I want to thank the Turner Recreation Commission Board for giving me the opportunity to come here and make a positive impact in this community. Their support and trust will allow us to move in a new and progressive direction. I also want to thank the Turner School District and their vital role as partners. Their partnership will continue to be a very important role in continuing to provide the best service in the area. I also would like to give thanks to our wonderful staff in embracing me and embracing the changes that come with the new regime. And last but certainly not least, I would like to thank all the leaders of this community, the outside organizations and our tremendous community business partners who continue to support our mission in promoting high quality products and an active lifestyle for our citizens. With everyone’s support, we can do incredible things in the Turner Community as well as the Kansas City Area.  With my arrival comes many changes. Great changes. With the support of everyone in the community as well as our leaders, we are striving towards something that every citizen of Turner and the surrounding community will be proud of. Our Organization’s philosophy is changing. A change that’s bringing the mind set of providing high quality programs, facilities and fields. We are establishing a more organized structure that will not only benefit our current goals but the stability and longevity of our organization. With each change will come an expected professional and high quality level of service. Our community deserves only the best, and we are committed to provide only the best.

As you look through our new and updated seasonal magazine you’ll notice that our programs have expanded and are improving. We are now offering all new youth and adult sporting programs as well as new youth, adult and senior recreation programs. As we continue to grow our organization, our programs will continue to grow, meeting the needs of every age and interest. The Turner Recreation Commission is committed to serving the needs of the community and providing a higher quality of life. We look forward to continuing to build the future together.  I value the community’s input, so if anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact me at our Recreation Center’s office: 913-287-2111 or spencerr@turnerusd202.org.
