Elder Bearies'Community Garden

We know that older adults need a sense of community and a need to strengthen social activities.In response to this need TRC has developed several programs to encourage and motivate older adults to take action and get involved. All Elder Bearies' programs are adults ages 50 and better.

Community Garden

The Turner Community Garden, located at 55th & Klamm, features a 12,000 square foot community vegetable garden, butterfly and herb garden, children's garden, bee hives, orchard and public picnic area. The garden has added a port-a-potty for the convenience of our visitors and volunteers,

Turner Community Garden Committee meets the 3rd Thursday of the month at 6:00pm in the bear's Den at TRC Beginning in February through November. All are welcome to attend.

Volunteers Needed50plus__element52

Volunteer days and times - Mondays 9:00am - 12:00pm additional days per week will be scheduled as needed or requested. Volunteers can also come and help at time of their choosing.

GAME DAYS (free)

Spend a relaxing afternoon playing cards, bingo or dominos. Have fun socializing with new and old friends while enjoying your favorite games. Coffee & water, cards, dominos and other games are provided. Snacks welcome!

PICKLE BALL (September - May)

Date: Tuesdays & Thursdays 1:00–3:00PM
Fee: Free
Location: TRC Community Center Gymnasium

Additional Information: The perfect indoor/outdoor game for small areas. Pickle-Ball has strategies similar to tennis, but is played in an area the size of a doubles badminton court.

POTLUCK (free)

Join the Elder Bearies on the 3rd Friday of the month at 12:00PM for a potluck at the TRC Community Center. Please bring a dish to share with the group.

50+ DAY TRIPS50plus__element51

You must register for day trips in the TRC office. All day trips leave from the TRC Community Center parking lot and will stop for lunch before returning to TRC. Day Trips are normally on the 2nd Thursday of the month and limited to the first 12 paid participants.

A full refund will be issued if TRC cancels a trip. There will be absolutely no refunds, credits, or transfers one week before the trip due to limited availability.
